Baby Middle Names

Baby middle names can come from a variety of places. Many baby middle names come from us or our family members. For many upon many years there have been traditions in families to pass down middle names. The choice is up to you, it is your baby so you make the decision yourself. If your family wants you to pass on a tradition but you don't want to at all, then don't. You don't want to do something, like naming a baby, only later to regret it. So when choosing a middle name for your baby there are things to consider. First of all, as mentioned above, are there any traditions that you may want to continue onto your baby? Many women and men will pass down their middle name to their child as their parent did before as their parent did before and the passing down of the middle name goes on through time. Maybe there is someone in your family that you are very close to and you want to name your child after this person. The middle name is a great choice for naming your baby after someone. Some parents feel that using the same first name doesn't feel unique enough to your taste. So therefore, that is where the middle name comes in to play. Giving your baby the middle name of a close loved one is a great way to tell someone how much they mean to you. You can use the person's first name or their middle name and pass it down to your baby as their middle name.

Another way to decide on a middle name is to consider the baby's first name. A general rule is that if a baby has a long first name, then you should give it a short middle name. If your baby has a short first name, then a long middle name would be appropriate. Off course you can do whatever you wish when naming your baby and you do not have to follow any of these guidelines. However, the name Samantha May sounds much more balanced than Samantha Elizabeth, for example. And another example would be that Luke Alexander sounds more balanced than Luke Ray. The choice is up to you.

You should also consider the initials that your baby's name would be making. There are some 3 letter words out there that we don't want our child to be writing on paper, so we need to be aware of our baby's initials and be sure they don't spell out inappropriate words.

Always remember that the choice of your baby's name is up to you. However it doesn't hurt to get advice from friends and family to come up with ideas for baby middle names.
