Baby names are something many women research before they even think about getting pregnant.
Since we were little girls we would often find ourselves saying that common phrase,
"When I have a little girl I'm going to name her." Many women have known what they have
wanted to name their baby for years before they even became pregnant. But what women forget
is that the name is also up to the Dad as well. Many couples find that even though they may
have more in common than a pair of matching socks, they will end up butting heads when it
comes to choosing a name for their baby. What both parents need to realize is that it is up
to you both, and you both should agree on the name that is chosen. Some couples have a pact
that if it is a girl the mother names it and if it is a boy the father names it. However,
if this is your agreement you should still be considerate of the other person's ideas and
feelings towards a name.
When choosing a baby name, you should write down every name that you hear that you like,
even if you don't like it a lot but only sort of. Later on you may feel that the name you
just thought was okay will end up growing on you and become a name that you really love.
You can get name ideas from various places. There are many baby books at your local library
or book store that have lists upon lists of baby names. You can also look in your bible if
you're religious. Some parents become so desperate that they look in other odd places for
names like the phonebook or on the cast and crew screen that comes on when a movie or TV
show is over. Also, don't be afraid to get ideas from friends and family members. Friends
and family will instantly have ideas for what they think you should be naming your little
bundle of joy, but remember that the choice is yours, not theirs.
You should also consider how to spell your child's name. Most names have more than one way
of spelling and you should pick which one you feel is most comfortable to you. Also, don't
forget to say the name with a middle name as sometimes a name sounds much nicer when put with
the middle name. Last but not least don't forget the last name. It probably isn't a very
creative idea to name your son, Billy Williams, or something along those lines. But again,
if that is what you want to do it is solely up to you. Don't stress over a name right away,
you will have plenty of time to think of a million baby names.
